At Kyaninga Child Development Centre (KCDC), we believe that supporting children with disabilities goes far beyond therapy or medical care. A truly inclusive world begins when families and communities are empowered as a whole. That’s why we take a holistic approach to disability, recognising that for children with disabilities to thrive, the environment around them must be enabling, supportive, and inclusive.
Livelihoods and advocacy are at the heart of this vision. We know that when families have access to stable incomes and communities are equipped with the knowledge and tools to advocate for inclusion, the barriers faced by children with disabilities start to come down. Whether it’s supporting caregivers in launching small businesses, working with parents to build networks of peer support, or training local leaders and teachers to advocate for inclusion, we are investing in the systems that surround the child.
Our approach is rooted in the belief that change must be community-led and sustainable. Disability inclusion cannot be achieved in isolation. It requires families who feel confident and capable, communities who value every child, and systems that work for everyone. Through livelihood support and community advocacy, KCDC is helping to shift attitudes, reduce stigma, and create opportunities—so that every child, regardless of ability, has the chance to reach their full potential.
