Addressing Critical Needs: A large number of our beneficiary families are female-headed households, highlighting the critical need to empower women to meet their families’ needs independently.
KCDC is a global catalyst partner of Street Business School (SBS) which aims to lift 1 million people out of poverty by 2027 with the philosophy that “When we invest in women, they invest in their communities. By increasing their incomes through business ownership, women can feed their families and send their children to school.”
SBS empowers female caregivers of children with disabilities by providing training in business and entrepreneurial skills through a participatory learning approach. Our comprehensive 6-month program includes:
1. Starting Small – Launch with minimal resources
2. Market Analysis – Understand your customers and competition
3. Bookkeeping – Track income and expenses effectively
4. Savings – Build financial resilience
5. Investments – Grow your business strategically
• No large capital required – start with just $2-3
• Participatory learning approach
• 6-month comprehensive program
• Ongoing support and mentorship
• Improve livelihood skills of female caregivers
• Enhance self-sustainability for families of children with disabilities
• Build confidence and entrepreneurial capacity
• Create lasting economic empowerment

Breaking the Cycle of Poverty Families caring for children with disabilities often face additional financial burdens and social isolation. By empowering the primary caregivers – predominantly women – we create a ripple effect that transforms entire family systems.
Sustainable Change Our approach doesn’t just provide temporary relief. We build lasting skills, confidence, and business acumen that continues to benefit families long after program completion.
Community Impact When women succeed in business, they reinvest in their communities. Our graduates become role models, employers, and advocates for other vulnerable families.
Empowering the Most Vulnerable
We specifically target female caregivers of children with disabilities – women who face unique challenges and are often overlooked by traditional development programs. These women are the backbone of their families, yet frequently lack access to economic opportunities.
Led by Experience
Our team of 5 lead coaches are all parents of children with disabilities themselves. This peer-to-peer approach creates trust, understanding, and authentic connections that drive real change.
